Diamond Days

Baseball season started tonight with a tournament we're hosting. Our team didn't play, but Sara and I were scheduled to work the grill. We fed the masses hamburgers, hotdogs, and mighty delicious brats. Mmmmm. You can expect to see many baseball and softball related photos over the next month because I'll be living here.

Clickety-Click-Current!

FINALLY! I'm caught up on posting the photos. Please computer...stay healthy so I don't have to play catch up again. Thanks to all of my visitors for sticking with me. Now, back to your regularly scheduled 7:15 photos.

Plant or Weed?

You tell me. If you don't know, send it on to someone who might. The iguana was no help.

Going for the Record

Amber has this toy that hooks around the ankle of one leg and she swings it around and jumps over it with the other leg. It has a counter on it so she told me she's going to break the world record. I think she got pretty close, until "Andrew got in her way!" Brothers can be "so mean".

Hurdle This!

Track meet. VERY WINDY! Cold in the shade. No carnage or bloodshed during the hurdles. Disappointed. Andrew did GREAT, though! He got medals and stuff. Good job, bro!

Shuttie!

After the KU spring football game, we went back to my brother's house and hung out. But, we mainly went back so we'd have an address for Pizza Shuttle to deliver their inexpensive pizza goodness to. Ya gotta have "Shuttle" when you're in town. It's a Lawrence tradition, just like KLWN. I think Scott Matthews summed it up best when he said, "Real men eat Shuttle".

Good to the Last Drop

Sara was at some sort of party where girls sit around and watch demonstrations of kitchen utensilszzzzzzzzzzz ....whoa...sorry.... I nodded off there for a second. So, the kids and I went out to Cracker Barrel for breakfast for dinner. We decided to do a little drankin' with our meal. Large chocolate milks all around! This is the way we pour it cuz we ain't missin' a drop of that dairy goodness.

Swimsational

Amber was modeling her new swimsuit for me tonight. Here's an extreme close-up of it. This perspective gives it that "Diver Down" feel. Perfect for a swimsuit, right?

Baseball! Duck!

Look who decided to nest behind the backstop on the T-ball field. There are lots of crazy hits and bad throws on this field so when people shout "DUCK!", this mama took it as a personal invitation.

THE BLOG IS BACK!!!

YAY! My computer is finally back to full strength and even improved with a new operating system and other cool things so the pictures will start up again immediately.
I've been taking photos daily so you won't miss a thing if you keep checking back. I'll be playing catch up for a few days but we'll be back on top of things soon.
Thanks again for your patience and thanks again for not giving up on this blog. Feel free to share with your friends!
See you in cyberspace!

Hurdle Fail

I am thoroughly convinced that watching junior high athletes run the hurdles is far more entertaining than watching professional bull riding.

Prairie Fire

Stepping away from the 7:15 time slot for tonight's picture. On the way back home from picking up A1 from basketball practice, we saw this ominous glow in the distance, one I didn't notice on the drive over to pick him up. So, we detoured a bit and enjoyed this scene that is always awesome to see. We had Sonny with us and I looked in the backseat to see what his reaction was and I didn't see. He was hiding on the floorboard of the back seat. Good dog, Sonny. Stop, drop and roll.

Anonymous Pocket

I can't tell you whose back pocket this is. But, I know...and am only able to share this because of the cropping tool.

Sprinkler Head

We stopped using the sprinkler system a couple of years ago to save money. Now we're wondering where the heads disappeared to. Erosion slowly covered them up. It was a chore to find them but we found them all. People driving by probably thought we were murdering our yard with screwdrivers as we poked and stabbed around where we thought they might be. Well, at least it's well aerated now.

Team Sherron

What a great night! Andrew & I had a father/son night and went to the Kansas Barnstorming Tour with Sherron Collins. We had VIP passes so were treated pretty well. We both met Sherron and got the future NBA star's autograph and I took Andrew's picture with him. We both enjoyed watching him play basketball with some other guys, including some players from Wichita State. We also ate like guys while we watched: hot dogs, nachos, and a couple of Mountain Dews. Guys nights are great!

Digital Downloads

I finally figured out what the hang-up was with my computer and why I couldn't download software updates or even music from iTunes. What a relief! So, tonight I'm getting the important things loaded back on the computer, starting first with a way to get music to put on my Zune.

Cole Aldrich...Junior

Andrew has been accused of bearing a resemblance to former KU star and future NBA player Cole Aldrich. Tonight, Andrew takes it a step further with a piece of black gum. You be the judge.

Throwback

Last night we saw "Hot Tub Time Machine". Tonight, I felt like I went back in time when I saw this display at the grocery store. Seeing this took me back to the summers when I would ride with Dad on his Pepsi route delivering pop to the smaller communities all around us. Good memories. This is what the cases looked like back then. So clean. So simple. So nice to see you again, old Pepsi logo. Now, when are you bringing back the glass bottles?

Sweet Sixteen

Celebrating our anniversary with a little Italian food, white zinfandel wine, and Hot Tub Time Machine. What a fun night! We tried really hard not to talk about the kids. That's a tough gig when they consume most of your time and energy. It was nice to focus on us for a few hours.

Gone Batty

Andrew's team had their first scrimmage tonight. On top of that, it was their first practice, too. It was a rough start, but by the end of the game, things started to click for the boys and they performed pretty well. I'm thinking that we could be something to talk about this season.

E Dubbin' It

What a better way to wind down at the end of the day than with my Entertainment Weekly magazine with a screaming dude shrouded in red on the cover.

Storm's a Brewin'!

The rain and the hail had just moved through, but this was building backwards. We walked at a quicket clip than normal to get home, just in case.

A Dog and His Bone

I was at a meeting for the youth program for the baseball coaches in the league and forgot to grab a photo at 7:15, so you get a picture of Sonny instead. It's probably more interesting anyway. He's a good dog.

Easter Sunday Snooze

I'm stepping away from the 7:15 photo to bring you some of my favorite things about Easter Sunday. A good church service that totally gets it right, finding Easter eggs with the kids, seeing what's in the Easter basket, spending time with family, spending time eating with family, and most importantly, the Easter Sunday snooze, especially one that can be taken outside with a nice breeze. My father-in-law has this down to a science. Even while the rest of us are busy making noise while shooting Easter eggs with BB guns from the back balcony, the F.I.L. gets it done. Nice work, John!

Wooly Buggers

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday. We're heading over to spend time with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law who are the ultimate outdoors type people. When it comes to hunting, fishing, camping, or making a 5 course gourmet meal in the middle of the wilderness, they're the ones you want to talk to. So, we have plans to do some fishing at the pond near their house and we're taking stock of what we have in fishing gear and getting it in working order. Amber's favorite is the Wooly Bugger that Uncle Kurt made for her.

Zzzzzzz

I gotta fess up. This picture was not taken at 7:15PM on April 2. You know why? Because I was sleeping at 7:15PM on April 2. It's not easy to take a picture when you're visiting Dreamland. So, the wife took a shot of my eyes shut on April 3 for the April 2 post.

No Joke!

We have come to the conclusion that A.J. Sports Grill (and The Backalley...both under the same ownership) have the BEST pizza in Wichita. It's our favorite and it'll be a difficult task for anyone to change our mind on that. Many people have other local joints that they swear by, but if we were in a swearin' contest, well...my mother would probably wash my mouth out with soap. My bride and the yungins' enjoyed dinner there tonight. It is so darn good!
